It is becoming ever more popular to have a small ceremonial type cutting cake and then incorporate in other sweet treats when dessert is actually being served. If you are someone who is not a fan of a traditional style wedding cake, or any cake at all, read on for some fabulous and delicious dessert ideas!

Doughnuts have been super popular recently! From doughnut bites and skewers and tiers of perfectly frosted minis to doughnut walls with any and every flavor you could possibly conjure up! There are just so many creative ways to display these delicious morsels of goodness!

Cookie and milk bars have also been trending, and or cookie shots! A cookie shot consists of a cookie that is in the shape of a shot glass and filled with milk!

If your planning for a farm style wedding, pie bars can make for a fitting option! Offering assorted flavors such as blueberry, apple and strawberry rhubarb are always popular choices! Some couples choose to have the pies displayed in a tower with each tier being a different flavor and sized pie, while others go for a more personal mini sized pie, or even pie pops! Having the option of a scoop of ice cream doesn’t hurt either!
Or how about an entire ice cream bar with toppings galore!?

Also consider having an evening visit from an ice pop cart! Choosing a signature sundae or ice pop flavor is a nice way to personalize the experience too! Julie from Crooked Stick Pops, (pictured above) offers all natural fruit and cream pops (popsicles) - flavors range from the traditional (orange cream, strawberry lemonade), to the creative (blueberry lavender lemonade, mango lemon basil), to the bold (sriracha pineapple, toasted anise seed nectarine), to "poptails" (mango margarita, watermelon mojito, piña colada)!

Petite spins on the classics like cake pops and cake push pops, as well as pie pops, and mini doughnuts make for super fun and handy ways to serve up your desserts!
Other bite sized sweet treat options include macaroons, and the New England classic, whoopee pies!

Setting up a candy bar and providing cute bags for your guests are a great way to kill two birds with one stone because your candies can double as your gift for your guests to take home at the end of the night!

Coffee and tea pair nicely with most desserts so having a coffee and tea station is always recommended!

Thinking about what your favorite desserts are in general can be a great way to customize the moment! It can also be a time to incorporate your family’s heritage by featuring desserts from a certain culture or region of the world.

According to the Huffington Post cupcakes are the most popular wedding cake alternative.
Any great dessert spread whether it be of all cupcakes or a few different featured desserts should include varying flavor profiles. Cupcakes can make for a versatile canvas with endless flavor combinations giving your guests several choices!
