Valley Wed Vendor Spotlight

Meet our vendors and find out why we're not your average wedding expo.

Valley Wed is a unique wedding show offering couples a handpicked selection of exceptional wedding pros in Western Mass.  It's designed especially for couples that want to go their own way, but they don’t want to go it alone.

Meet Brittney Love and Shana Perry of Love & Perry Photography and Films.
(And yes, they really are as awesome as they look.)

When did you start your business?

We started in Southwest Florida in 2008. We were living there at the time and photographing small events, families, pets, engagements...really anything that moved!  We were Brittney Love Photography (Brittney was the main photographer) but after we relocated to awesome Western Massachusetts a little over 5 years ago, we changed our name to Love & Perry Photography to reflect both of us as equals.

Business was great our first year and then exploded the next, doubling our bookings.  We took it to the next level in 2016 when we expanded to Love & Perry Photography and Films as we have been creating short films for our clients on their wedding day.  We absolutely love doing the short films and will keep creating for many years to come.

Tell us why do you do what you do.

Because a) we love it and b) we love the people we get to work with.  We have made so many life long friends through our business and couldn’t be happier capturing people’s love for each other, their families and friends. You really get an intimate look into people’s lives and we are so glad our clients let us in!

What's your favorite part of your job?

Shana would say meeting new people and making them happy through the work we produce. She is a true social person and loves making new friends everywhere she goes. Random people will strike up conversations with her all the time and she loves it!

Brittney would say creating art! She is very focused on her creativity, learning and using new techniques and capturing great moments through an alternative perspective.

Together we bring many different aspects to our business and that’s what makes it great!

After meeting with a new client, what do you want them to leave knowing about you and your business?

That they have made the right choice for their big day. We want them to feel comfortable with us; we want to have a good time with each other; we want them to be moved by our work; and we want them to know that they will receive a high quality product from us throughout the whole process of working together.

We want our clients to know we are real people and what you see when you meet us is what you get!  We consider ourselves kind and generous beings and want all of our clients to feel that when they choose us.  We also want them to know we run a tight business with up to date technology when delivering products and communicating.  We just want to make everything with us fun, easy and stress-free!

What makes you different from other vendors in your field?

Our artistic, vibrant style as well as our ability to shoot and create short films. We have mastered the ability to shoot stills and video at the same time (crazy as it seems) and then create amazing memories for everyone involved.  We love it!

What is the best compliment you could receive from a couple after their wedding?

We often hear this from our couples: "So many of our guests, family and bridal party talked about you two to us after the wedding, telling us how hard you worked, that you never stopped moving and that you look like you are having a blast doing what you do."  It is always so nice to hear that your hard work is being appreciated not only by your clients but by everyone involved in the event.

What would feel great to know you'd accomplished for them?

When our clients tell us that their images invoked emotion and brought back the whole day for them, then we have done our jobs!

Give us a true gem of advice…something every couple needs to know about planning a wedding or the big day itself.

Well, we can share several gems of advice!
  • Take it all in.  It will be over before you know it.
  • Don’t sweat the small stuff (stay stress free - it’s your wedding day) and hire vendors you are comfortable with and you can trust to run the day for you.
  • If something goes wrong, so what?  Go with the flow, make it work and have some freaking fun!
Many clients get caught up in trying to run a perfect day and there is no such thing. You plan and plan for a year or more, hoping that it doesn’t rain or things don’t run late or the guest buses don’t get lost or the bridal party doesn’t get smashed to early. In all reality, one of those things always happens. Breathe, relax, enjoy your partner and rock on!!

Show us two things you are really proud of…your best work or highest achievement professionally and something personal that makes you happy and fulfilled.

Professionally, there are so many things we are proud of.  We have won some awards, been published on many blogs and in print, and recognized on the international level.  Something we are really proud of, though, is our recognition in the LGBTQ world.

As a married gay couple ourselves, it is really important to us that we can be apart of something this historic.  Being able to marry who you love in this country has taken a long time and we are so forever grateful we have been able to live our lives and create a family together.

We are really proud of this piece of work not only because this couple is awesome, but they were the first same sex couple to legally marry in the state of Missouri. We captured their wedding outside St. Louis in June of 2015 and then the wedding was picked up by Junebug Weddings (a highly regarded and really-hard-to get-published-in online blog).

Personally, hands down the biggest accomplishment that makes us equally as happy is our son, Wilder Scott.  Wilder was born on March 5th, 2o16 and we could not have asked for anything better!  He is the love of our lives, makes things interesting and totally difficult at times, but whatever...he’s a baby!  We are so excited to see what he becomes and also for many years of throw up in our hair!

This is the film we created for his birth announcement.

Welcome Home Wilder from Love & Perry on Vimeo.

Same-Sex Marriage Equality...FINALLY!

6/30/2015

Marriage equality is now the law of the land in every state of the United States of America!
The Court has ruled for the freedom to marry nationwide by declaring that it is unconstitutional to bar same-sex couples from marriage.  What do Valley Wed vendors think of the ruling?  Here's a little sampling from their social media feeds.
Love is love. Finally.

"By now you all know how historic today is. It is, of course, an incredibly special day for us. Almost equally as special as our actual ceremony, and we are so beyond ecstatic that our marriage is now legally recognized in all 50 states. We can't wait to see our news feed flooded with love when the first marriages in the states that were still holding out have to give in. What an amazing day!"  ~Love & Perry Photography

"I remember 11 years ago when it became legal in Massachusetts, the first state to say yes to same-sex marriage. My wife and I had already had a big wedding the year before but we wanted it to be official. We went to Cambridge City Hall and got our marriage license on the first day it was available and then married later that month in our living room with our families and a few friends present. It is one of my happiest memories."  ~ Sandra Costello Photography
